After Delwara village I visited Usan, one of the small villages in southern Rajasthan covered by Seva Mandir programmes.

One of these programmes is Shiksha Kendras – “bridge school” providing education for out-of-school children aged 6-14. Shiksha Kendras, schools with trained local teachers are based in the areas where there are no functioning government schools. Usan’s school attend around 50 children which are divided in 3 groups A, B, C due to their level of education. After finishing this school children will have a chance to transit smoothly into government school.

Community run preschool (Balwadi) in Usan provides care for around 20 children in age between 1 and 5. These children suffering from innutrition, a lack of care and security can be left here when their parents have to work either on their farms or as hire labourers. This Balwadi in Usan is run by woman from local community who was train by Seva Mandir.

The area is covered by few agriculture projects.
